I've been kinda quiet because... well, I just have. :)
Yesterday morning, Payton decided he only wanted one bite of his cereal. So, he was warned that he'd have to wait until snack time (3 hours later...) and that his "belly would be angry" (growl) at him if he didn't eat. He accepted that and really was a trooper until snack time. Snack time and lunch time were great. Then, afternoon snack was due to arrive... He had skipped his nap and at about 2p started asking for snack. Snacktime isn't until 3p and for him, we HAVE to keep that schedule or he'd eat 24/7. Here's the convo:
P: mooooommmmmmyyyyyyy...... I want snnnnaaaaackkkkk.....<
M: Sorry buddy! It's not snacktime yet! When the timer goes off, it'll be snack time!
P: {frowns} Mommy, I'm ANGRY at my belly. My belly wants snack.
M: You're ANGRY at your belly? Is your belly growling and angry at you?
P: YES. I'm angry at my belly because my belly wants a snack.
He just didn't get it! It was SO cute!
Honour has been OBSESSED with having a "6-pack" of ab muscles. He's still a scrony little stick and until puberty hits, he's gonna look like his same skinny little self! So, last night as we did dishes together, he was talking (again) about how bad he wanted them and what he could do to get them. Here's the convo:
H: Mom, what can I do to get a 6-pack? Is it hard?
M: Well buddy, until you hit puberty, you're not going to have much of them. Your muscles aren't ready to be built like that. They will be someday and yes, it DOES take hard work but you can do it!
H: Can I at least get a 2-pack?
M: {laughing} There's no such thing! It's a 6-pack or nothing! (I didn't dare tell him you can have MORE than a 6-pack--for now)
Sometimes 10 year olds DO still say innocently funny things! ;)
your kids are awesome!
